New Student Orientation
Welcome to Stella and Charles Guttman Community College!
We are delighted that you have chosen to join the Guttman community, and we look forward to supporting you as you embark on this exciting new journey. The New Student Orientation program is available in December for Spring admits and in June for Fall admits. The program is offered exclusively online for all incoming first-year and transfer students. The online Orientation program can be completed in approximately 30 minutes and will consist of twelve (12) sections.

When and how will I access the online New Student Orientation program?
Committed students receive step-by-step Orientation instructions via email. Please note, only students who have submitted a commitment form are eligible to complete New Student Orientation.
All committed students are REQUIRED to complete Orientation by the designated deadline of February 15th for Spring admits and August 15th for Fall admits. Should you require support:

Mission Statement: New Student Orientation
The mission of New Student Orientation is to holistically address students’ transition to Stella and Charles Guttman Community College. Aligning with the institutional mission, community is at the center of New Student Orientation. Therefore, our program is designed to familiarize students with our College’s distinct resources and services, and basic policies and procedures. Our goal is for students to feel invigorated, prepared and have a sense of belonging.

Q. How do access the online New Student Orientation program?
A. The Admissions Office will email you with instructions for how to log-into the online Orientation program.
Q. What should I expect from New Student Orientation?
A. New Student Orientation is designed to familiarize students with our College’s:

- Basic policies and procedures
Our goal is for students to feel invigorated, prepared, and have a sense of belonging.
Q. How long is New Student Orientation?
A. The online New Student Orientation will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. You will have approximately 40 days in which to complete the orientation program, but we recommend completing it sooner than later.
Q. Is New Student Orientation mandatory?
A. YES! New Student Orientation is mandatory for all incoming students in preparation for the first semester.
Q. When will I take my photo ID picture?
A. You will be contacted with instructions for how to take your Guttman student ID picture remotely and submit it to the IT Office. Student IDs will be available for on-campus pick-up during select days and times prior to the start of the semester.
Q. What should I do prior to New Student Orientation?
A. Continue to check your GrizzlyPath for steps needed before completing New Student Orientation. Some of these include submitting proof of graduation, and immunization records. You should also claim your CUNY ID number called your EMPLD. Try logging into CUNYFirst, please note that your username and password will NOT be the same as your GrizzlyPath. To Claim your EMPLID you will need your Full Name, Date of Birth, and Last Four digits of your Social Security Number.
Q. Will I register for classes during New Student Orientation?
A. Class registration takes place separately, not during Orientation. Information on scheduling an appointment with an advisor to register for classes will be provided to you via e-mail.
Q. What If I no longer plan to attend Guttman or wish to postpone my enrollment for the following semester?

Q. What do I do after I complete New Student Orientation?
A. Check your email to ensure you are following up on any outstanding items such as submitting proof graduation or transcripts for transfer credit consideration, claim your Guttman accounts, submit your immunization records, etc. First year students will be required to complete the Bridge Program.
