History of “Amplifying Student Voices”
This “Amplifying Student Voices” was founded in December 2020 by Guttman’s Beta Phi Gamma chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (or PTK for short), in collaboration with the office of the College President. PTK is an international honor society founded in 1918 that recognizes students’ academic excellence at the community college level, and provide opportunities for students to grow as scholars and leaders. One way members can develop and exemplify their leadership is to work with the senior administration of a college to conduct a College Project in line with the college’s vision and mission. Stella and Charles Guttman Community College’s vision is to “support student achievement in a dynamic, inclusive and intellectually engaging environment.” To this end, the “Amplifying Student Voices” project was created to increase student engagement and provide all Grizzlies with an online space that ensures student voice is represented in the larger college community and conversations.
