Easy Recipe for Chilaquiles Verdes

I wanted to show a recipe that people may not know of because it is not as common as tacos or tamales which are more popular Mexican foods. I wanted to express my culture by showing a meal that does not take up a lot of time.”


  • Corn tortillas
  • Salsa Verde
  • Queso fresco or cheese of your choice
  • Corn oil
  • Sour cream
  • Optional: Avocado, onions

Prep time:

  • 10-15 minutes

Steps to preparing dish:

  1. Turn on stove and place a pan with oil
  2. Take about four to five tortillas and cut them up into smaller pieces
  3. Keep flipping tortillas till they start to crisp
  4. After about four to five minutes, combine tortillas with salsa Verde and mix
  5. Keep combining till tortillas are crispy enough (depending on your preference)
  6. Place on a plate and sprinkle your cheese on top
  7. Add sour cream
  8. Optional: Place avocado slices on top and sprinkle onion slices and cilantro

For spicy food lovers, I am sure you will love this! If you do not like spiciness, give it a try anyway! The sour cream and avocado really balance out the salsa Verde, so it makes it more delicious. It is usually served as a breakfast meal but can be eaten for dinner as well. Have a little spice in your life and try this meal, you will not regret it! It is easy and simple to put together and the taste will be exquisite.
